The poultry red mite is the most important ectoparasite present worldwide and in almost all chicken farms. It infests the environment, equipment, technical means, cages, coops, transport vehicles and, not least, those who work in farms, creating significant discomfort.
The application of MSD products must always be carried out in empty spaces. Except for RECIDAL® SIL that can also be used in the presence of animals.
The reproductive cycle of RED MITE (Dermanyssus gallinae) is very fast and can be completed in just 6-7 days. The female lays her eggs in groups of 7 or more, after 1 or 2 days after having completed a blood meal.
The eggs are laid in small cracks or crevices, always near the selected host. At a temperature of 27-28 °C the eggs hatch in 1-2 days, with the larval phase lasting for one day and the nymphal phase 5-6 days.
